A SAGE ADVICE FROM A TEA SELLER

I've always had a passion for journeys, whether it's on a bike, a plane, or a bus. In every adventure, there are lessons and stories to be found. Let me share one from last year. One day, with just a friend by my side, we decided to embark on an impromptu bike journey with no particular distance or time frame in mind. We packed a couple of  clothes and simply set off. There were no grand expectations; it was just a for change and a love of the open road that led us to this unplanned adventure.

All of the journeys I believe that the essence of a journey lies in the unplanned simple moments. Given my habit of asking questions and seeking advice from strangers whenever I travel, I struck up a casual conversation with the friendly tea seller during a routine stop at a roadside tea stall. I asked him a simple question: "What's a piece of advice that has stuck with you recently?" His response was unassuming yet thought-provoking. He shared a quote that he later revealed was by Charles Wadsworth :

By the time a man realizes that his father was right,
he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong.

By Charles Wadsworth

"जब तक आदमी को यह पता चलता है कि उसके पिता सही थे, तब तक उसका बेट सोचता है कि वह गलत है।"
These words lingered in my mind long after we left the tea stall even to this day. It didn't change my life but always made me ponder. Perhaps, we should prioritize knowing ourselves more than anyone else in the world. As we grow, society often emphasizes the importance of caring for and understanding others, but it's rare to hear that we should know ourselves first. In a world that encourages outward exploration, we sometimes forget the significance of inward introspection. So, as you embark on your own adventures, whether on wings or wheels, consider the value of knowing yourself deeply. It's through this self-awareness that we can truly connect with the world and navigate our life's journey with clarity and purpose.
